In 1883, Dirk Boomsma opened a distillery in Leeuwarden at the foot of the Oldehove tower. Little did he know that his name and his life’s work would live on to this day. The fifth generation of Boomsmas, Saskia and Chantoine, continue to build on his dream. With the same dedication and international ambitions.
From day one, Boomsma has produced genevers, Beerenburger and liqueurs (which we still produce according to our age-old recipes). In addition, Boomsma offers a range of foreign spirits such as Glen Talloch Whisky, Esbjaerg Vodka and Old Captain Rum. And since the early 1970s, we have been importing quality wines from traditional and emerging wine regions all over the world.
A nose for quality
Thanks to the Copper Pot Stills which were purchased in 2015, we have full control of the distillation and production process. This is how we guarantee quality and taste. We also refine our centuries-old family recipes in this advanced, artisanal process.
Boomsma Dry Gin was created by combining the old with the new: we relied on our knowledge of gin, generations of experience with spices and our Copper Pot Stills. The result? A unique herbal gin. We also experiment with barrel ageing of our Old Genevers, for example. We give this classic drink a unique touch through wood-ageing in port, bourbon or wine barrels from Chateau Beaulieu.
As a modest family business, we seek to expand and develop at our own pace. Our aim is to continue to surprise ourselves and our customers. Seeing people enjoy our products makes us genuinely happy. That’s what drives us.
